Our beautiful baby girl, Emilia Violet Sousadias de Smith Piper, came into this world like a shooting star on January 20th, 2020 in Guelph. She passed away June 4th 2021 at 12:16 AM at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. She was a warrior who fought with everything she had from her birth until the very end. She held on in her hardest moment to see her Mama and Dada and hear her favourite songs. Her Mama and Dada were with her every second from the beginning to end. In her short time on earth we shared Harry Potter, blueberries, dandelions, and so much more. She taught everyone around her to stay safe, dream big, laugh, and always keep walking. She was our light during the darkest year with the pandemic and we thank her for keeping us safe and showing us what is important in life. She conquered her CDH, CHDs, and feeding tubes. In the end she succeeded in fully weaning herself off her G-tube. She never wanted for anything and was the happiest girl you'd ever meet. She is loved by everyone and her family up in heaven is babysitting her for now. She is the first grandchild of Trevor & Maria Smith, Craig Piper & Leanne Caron. She is the great-grandchild of Antonio & Maria do Céu Sousa-Dias, and Anne Piper. She has many aunts, uncles, tias, tios, and cousins who miss her deeply. Her Mama and Dada, Claudia do Céu Smith-Piper & Bryan Piper, vow to always walk the path Emilia set them on and keep her close as she needed them to walk with her through the world.

The funeral will be held at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph on June 14th. Private burial to follow. Masks and social distancing required. We would ask for people to not wear black and instead wear either white or bright colours.
